The Songs That Saved Us (Signed Book + Album)

The Songs That Saved Us

A remarkable true story of love, music and the extraordinary bond between a father and son.

When Simon McDermott's father, Ted, was diagnosed with dementia, it felt as though their precious connection was slowly slipping away. But during a car journey, Simon played one of Dad's favourite songs — and something remarkable happened. Teddy began to sing, remembering every word.

That moment began an extraordinary journey. Their Songaminute videos touched millions of people around the world, helped raise more than £150,000 for dementia charities and led to a Pride of Britain Award, a Top 10 album and a Japanese feature film inspired by their story.

In The Songs That Saved Us, Simon tells the deeply personal story behind those moments, exploring love, family, dementia and the remarkable power of music to bring people together.

Originally published as The Songaminute Man, this updated edition includes new reflections and an additional chapter.
